Amy Burkholder is an Emmy award-winning network news
producer, with more than two decades of journalistic experience.
Her reporting has taken her across continents, where she has had a
front row seat to the world’s triumphs, and tragedies.

Career highlights include steering CBS News coverage of the Sandy
Hook Elementary School massacre, earning a prestigious 2014
Edward R. Murrow award with correspondent Scott Pelley, and
2014 Alfred I. DuPont award.

Global health is an area of interest and expertise. Ms. Burkholder
produced stories for Dr. Sanjay Gupta for CBS News & CNN. She
completed groundbreaking investigative reports on cancer drug
shortages and the use of shock devices on low functioning adults
and children, which won journalism’s highest honors.

She is a strong believer in learning. Burkholder will be teaching
medical writing as an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the
Bronx, spring semester 2016. She completed a media fellowship at
Harvard Medical School in 2008 on neurodegenerative diseases, as
well as a National Press Foundation fellowship on Alzheimer’s
disease in 2010. She was fortunate address a United Nations panel
in 2011, on the media’s role in eradicating non-communicable diseases.

Ms. Burkholder is originally from the Main Line, Philadelphia, and
grew up in England where she attended the American School in
London. She earned a degree in biology from Lafayette College, and
a Master’s of Science degree from the Medill School of Journalism
at Northwestern University.

She grew up in a home filled with classical music. She had the good
fortune to follow a talented conductor from London, to Cologne, to
Vienna when her father, Barry served as President of the Houston
Symphony Society. Her mother, Janet is a flutist.

She resides in New York, where she feeds on the music and culture,
and eagerly anticipates the Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall event each year.
She is also active with the Komera Project, and funds the education of a
female student athlete in Rwanda. She is an avid runner and skier.
