Sphinx Overture

What is Overture?
The Overture program was designed and initiated with two primary purposes: 1) delivering access to music education to Detroit's underserved communities, and 2) creating a feeder system for the Sphinx Preparatory Music Institute (Sphinx Prep). Coordinated by Michelle May, Sphinx instructors ("Specialists") hold beginning violin lessons for students ages 11-14 twice per week in Flint and in the communities of Osborn and Vernor in Detroit, for 15 weeks during each semester (or 30 weeks per academic year). The lessons are free and violins are provided by Sphinx.

Applications accepted on rolling basis, but space is limited!
