ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
| Two years ago, the Sphinx Organization announced a new initiative aimed at bringing more music by Black and Latino composers to the concert hall. Sphinx administers the new initiative called the Sphinx Commissioning Consortium (SCC) by partnering with prominent orchestras in annually commissioning a work by a major Black or Latino composer. Critically acclaimed Latino composer Roberto Sierra was named the inaugural SCC composer. The second composer to be selected by the consortium was Daniel Bernard Roumain. Members of the consortium will be performing his new work in concert halls across the country during the 2010-2011 season.
