What is Sphinx Stars?

  • Sphinx's newest program to highlight the musical talents of young performers in Detroit
  • Musicians compete for a $10,000 grand prize, other cash prizes and performance opportunities
  • Jury panel comprises Detroit celebrities and professionals from the arts

Who is Eligible?

  • Open to young musicians living in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties
  • Age requirement: Up to the age of 18 and have not yet graduated high school
  • Categories: voice, piano, strings, winds, brass and percussion

When is the Sphinx Stars competition?

The finals for Sphinx Stars: Detroit! will take place in May 2013. Live auditions will be held in November 2012. 

When are applications due?

Applications are due in December. Late applications are not accepted.

How do I apply?
