How You Can Help > Sponsorship Opportunities
Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players brings together the top young artists of color to compete for cash, prizes, scholarships, and performances with more than 30 of America's top orchestras.
SphinxCon is a national convening around the issues of diversity in the performing arts. Held in Detroit during the annual Sphinx Competition, SphinxCon will bring together leaders from all disciplines of the performing arts to share ideas, challenges, successes, and lessons learned in pursuit of increased diversity in all aspects of the performing arts sector.
Sphinx Virtuosi National Tour features alumni of the Sphinx Competition. This dynamic, conductorless ensemble reaches nearly 20,000 live audiences, in addition to school and community outreach. Anchor stops in the tour include the New World Center in Miami, the Harris Theater in Chicago, and the renowned Carnegie Hall.
In addition to sponsoring the tour as a whole, you can also sponsor our
Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall performance and gala specifically, which has earned rave reviews and sold out audiences. An exclusive afterglow reception takes place immediately following the concert. For more information on this celebration of artistic excellence and diversity, please see our event page and contact us to get involved today!
The Sphinx Medals of Excellence are awarded annually to three outstanding artists of color who demonstrate the following qualities: artistic excellence, outstanding work ethic, a spirit of determination, and great potential for leadership. The awards carry a $50,000 career grant to further their professional pursuits. The recipients are honored each year at a black-tie dinner in Washington D.C. Underwriting opportunities are available to help make this unique program possible.
