Experience Sphinx’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

Thanks to our partners at Detroit Public Television, Sphinx is able to share videos of our 20th annual Sphinx Competition Finals Concert on February 12, 2017. The three Senior Division finalists of the competition took the stage at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall (Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center) along with the all-Black and Latino Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, and special guest the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. The SSO and Glee Club performed a newly commissioned version of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed” by composer Joel Thompson, then were joined by Karen Clark Sheard and jessica Care moore to close the concert with John Legend’s “Glory.” See the videos of these powerful performances below!
