Nicolas Alessio

Argentinian composer and pianist, born February 13, 1919, died August 25, 1985.


Argentinian composer and pianist Nicolas Alessio was born on February 13th, 1919, in Santa Fé. He started his musical studies at the age of four with his father and later studied with Professor Jose De Nito. Alessio performed regularly at radio stations and held the position of Musical Advisor at Radio Rosario; he also accompanied esteemed soloists and taught harmony, counterpoint, composition, and piano in many schools, including the School of Arts of the National University of Córdoba. A prolific composer for string instruments and piano, Alessio had the opportunity to conduct the Sinfónica de Rosario in a performance of his own piano concerto with his brother Mario Ángel as the soloist. Alessio also wrote a considerable number of works for choir and wind instruments. Alessio died in Córdoba on August 25th, 1985.
