Chris Johnson

Christopher “Bassplayaplaya” Johnson is a classically trained bassist and graduate of the New England Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music. His performance career spans orchestral, contemporary, and popular music, with appearances with the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra, Adekunle Gold, and Asake. He has also performed as a contracted musician with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Allentown Symphony Orchestra, and recently toured Hamburg with the Chamber Orchestra of New York.

Beyond the concert stage, Christopher is the founder of Strauss Hauss BK (@Strauss_Hauss_Bk), a live music and food platform built around community, collaboration, and artistic expression. Through Strauss Hauss, he creates intimate performance experiences that bring together musicians, comedians, and artists across genres.

As a member of Sphinx Virtuosi, Christopher continues to expand the possibilities of the classical bassist, connecting his orchestral background with his broader musical identity and commitment to building community through music.
