Carlos Washington Barraquero

Argentinian composer and conductor, born 1921, died 2002.


Argentinian composer and conductor Carlos Washington Barraquero was born in 1921 in Mendoza. After first studying at Escuela Superior de Música (now known as Facultad de Artes of the University Nacional of Cuyo) in Mendoza, Barroquero continued his studies with Emilio Dublanc, Alejandro Derevitzky, Pedre Valenti Costa, Robert Shaw, and Clyton Kriebhel. Barraquero worked at the Facultad de Artes of the University Nacional of Cuyo as an assistant director and conductor of the chamber chorus, as well as a professor of harmony, choral conducting, music form, and orchestration. Barraquero died in 2002.
