Major Gifts Officer | Washington Bach Consort
Michael Walker II is an established and innovative fundraising professional with extensive non-profit management expertise. As a passionate advocate of community centric fundraising, Michael sincerely believes that a community rich in the classical arts enhances the quality of life of its members, while providing them the opportunities to learn and appreciate the humanity we all share.
Currently, Michael serves as the Major Gifts Officer for the Washington Bach Consort following tenures with leading arts organizations including, but not limited to Apollo’s Fire, Central City Opera, and Indianapolis Opera. As an advocate for arts and culture, Michael has previously served as the Vice President for the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and as a Board Member on the Board of Directors for Early Music America and Indianapolis Early Music. Michael continues to build sustainable business structures and strategic plans that focus on relationships and community building to ensure the continued growth of the organization.
Michael holds a Masters of Music in Historical Performance Practices from the Historical Performance Institute at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a Certificate in Professional Fundraising from Boston University. In addition, he enjoys a thriving career as a Countertenor, performing as a soloist with orchestras and a chamber music member. Furthermore, Michael is a Sphinx LEADer Fellow with the Sphinx Organization; a social justice organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts.
