Rae De Vine

Manager, Education and Engagement | The Metropolitan Opera

Rae De Vine (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist, facilitator, and cultural worker who engages with the arts as a vehicle for healing and building community, and deeply believes in the transformative power of the arts in education. As a vocalist, poet, and performer, they have participated in workshops and readings at Cave Canem and The Leslie Lohman Museum, have appeared Off-Broadway, and as a featured vocalist in iconic venues including The Apollo, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and Dizzy's at Jazz at Lincoln Center. As a Teaching Artist, Youth Mentor, and Facilitator with a number of community-based and arts organizations, Rae has worked (in both English and Spanish) with artists, educators and activists, adoptee and refugee youth, and relishes the opportunity to share with and learn from students of all ages. As an administrator, they enjoy the rigor and excitement of planning with, coordinating, and supporting educators and school communities; collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and maintain intentional and culturally relevant programming, special projects, and events.

A self-proclaimed “perennial student”, Rae is naturally curious and always looking for ways to stay on their growing edge, and expand their learning community. They hold a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from Marymount Manhattan College where they studied Theatre and Sociology, focusing on Theatre Performance and race and gender studies. Rae was an Innovative Cultural Advocacy (ICA) Fellow with the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) and an EMERGENYC Artist with The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. They currently serve as the Manager of Education and Engagement at the Metropolitan Opera where they support the curation, production, and execution of the National Program HD Live in Schools, and manage the school partnerships on the city, state, and national levels. Rae is also a SphinxLEAD Fellow, a mentor with iMentor, and a member of Actors’ Equity, The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, and both the Music and Theatre Advisory Boards of The Bronx Music Heritage Center. linktr.ee/raedevine
